Close to Home

Sometimes the best rides are those that are easiest to access. They can fill in the small gaps in one's day when there is not enough time to go for a long ride, but when a ride is needed nonetheless. Trails don't get much closer than the trail wrapping around my house. It was the perfect destination (if it can really be called that) for a ride in between rain showers.

The trail starts right next to our pond

Alden was trying out my mom's full suspension bike and tearing it up

I was thoroughly enjoying trying out a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens. It is definitely a bit long for some situations, but very cool in others. Getting high enough up to get this shot was tricky, but the lens does provide nice separation.

It was perfect for nice medium distance shots

Alden was showing great cornering form throughout the day.

Alden also took a turn at being the photographer and snagged a couple good ones of me.

Looking sharp around a corner:

And playing on a steep line:

All in all, it was a very fun afternoon.
